When individuals face situations that threaten their physical, emotional, or psychological safety, their bodies respond instinctively to protect them from harm. While it’s normal to experience a range of reactions after trauma, for some, these responses can become overwhelming and persistent. This can leave individuals feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, guilt, anger, and sadness. It may also lead to distressing memories and a disconnection from activities and relationships. Trauma-focused therapy aims to help individuals process their experiences, develop coping strategies, and reduce the impact of trauma on their daily lives, ultimately supporting healing.

It’s natural to feel anxious or nervous from time to time, but for some individuals, anxiety can become a persistent and overwhelming presence. When anxiety feels unmanageable, it can lead to excessive worry, difficulty focusing, and frequent or intense panic episodes. Whether it’s generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, or perfectionism, there are effective therapeutic approaches to help manage these feelings and restore a sense of balance and well-being.

It’s normal to feel sad or down from time to time. However, when sadness lingers, and you lose interest in activities you once enjoyed, or find it difficult to engage in daily life, you may be experiencing depression. Depression can bring feelings of hopelessness, guilt, irritability, and fatigue. It can also make it hard to concentrate, make decisions, and lead to changes in appetite and sleep patterns. Therapy for depression focuses on recognizing these symptoms and learning strategies to manage emotions, challenge negative self-talk, and overcome low motivation.

Receiving a health diagnosis, undergoing medical treatment, or living with a health condition can profoundly affect our emotional and psychological well-being. Many individuals experience grief, depression, and anxiety as they navigate the challenges brought on by their health journeys. Adjusting to these changes can be challenging, whether they stem from a current health condition or past medical experiences. Therapy may involve processing the emotional impact of a diagnosis, supporting mental well-being during treatment, managing grief and loss, addressing fears of recurrence, navigating interpersonal stress, and enhancing life engagement during illness.
It’s also important to recognize that medical challenges affect not only the individual but their loved ones as well. Therapy in this area extends to family members, friends, and caregivers of those facing illness or treatment. For these supportive individuals, therapy may include managing caregiver stress, handling interpersonal difficulties, and processing grief, particularly as they cope with end-of-life transitions.

Grief is a deeply personal and complex response to loss that affects us physically, emotionally, and psychologically. While often associated with the death of a loved one, grief can arise from many types of loss, including the end of a relationship, health changes, or significant life transitions. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space to explore your emotions, process the impact of loss, and develop strategies to rebuild and reduce grief's effect on your daily life.
Assessment Services
-
A psychodiagnostic assessment is a thorough evaluation of an individual's psychological symptoms, behaviours, and abilities. It offers valuable insights into a person’s strengths and challenges, helping to identify underlying issues and provide tailored recommendations for support.
These assessments can clarify diagnoses and suggest treatment or accommodations to improve well-being.
Common reasons for referral include anxiety, depression, attention difficulties (such as ADHD), trauma and PTSD, and adjustment challenges.

I conduct psychological assessments for individuals applying for refugee or humanitarian and compassionate grounds (H&C). These assessments offer applicants and their legal representatives a clear, comprehensive document that highlights the psychosocial factors often central to refugee and H&C applications. The assessment may connect pre-immigration experiences, psychological symptoms, current social challenges, and potential immigration outcomes.
Upon referral from a lawyer or immigration consultant, the assessment process typically includes a thorough clinical interview, the use of validated psychological measures, and the preparation of a detailed, integrated report.
